Miniature Gallery: The Shruuf

The Shruuf is a greater demon from the classical German roleplaying game “Das Schwarze Auge” (The Dark Eye). I think he looks very stupid. That’s why I like him so much. I painted him earlier this year - in May 2012 - during holidays on Lake Garda, Italy.

Before painting I had to decide how to base him. First I thought about using him for Warhammer Fantasy. But finally I opted for a large 40K base to field him as a Greater Demon or Demon Prince for my Warhammer 40.000 Chaos army.

According to Dark Eye fluff the other names for him are either “The adipose Blooddrinker” or “The Annihilator”. He has four horns. The mightiest demons have as many as seven horns.

This old school miniature was published for the Armalion tabletop game from 1998. Today the model is sold by Ral Partha Europe Ltd.

I painted him on a small balcony in Italy.

Duzi & Spiel 2012

Every October two gaming events take place which I visit regularly, the “Duzi” in Wesel and the “Spiel“ in Essen. The Duzi is a small miniature trade fair where you can find everything you need for tabletop wargaming and many miniature rarities. The Spiel needs no further explanation as it is widely known as the place to be in the world of gaming.

This year I went to Duzi with Andi looking for a plastic box of Wargames Factory Numidians to finally start my Warhammer Ancient project together with my cousin Karl. Like every year I also bought a new terrain piece from my favorite terrain manufacturer Didier Fünfrock-Dymowski. Go and check his website for his beautiful tabletop terrain: http://more-terrain.de/.

Then last weekend I visited the Spiel together with my girlfriend Bettina and with Krüger. Bettina is a keen photographer and she took many nice pictures of the event. It is always great to be at the Spiel as you can discover so many new things, meet nice people from all over the world and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere.

The Spiel is the biggest gaming fair in the world...

...with nearly 150.000 gamers visiting every year this great event.

Krüger is still sceptical. Later he bought the X-Wing starter set.

Not afraid of Imperial troopers???

There is always something interesting to discover for a hobbyist.
